Il canale delle Lucciole [Fireflies Pathway] is a site specific installation realised for Arena delle Balle di Paglia festival in Cotignola (RA).
One hundred sound and light modules are arranged along the path of the bed of an old irrigation canal. Each module collaborates with its own rhythm to a nocturnal and dreamlike visual and soundscape. |
Each module has its own internal rhythm with one rule shared by all modules: with each stroke, the time for repetition lengthens slightly; thus the polyrhythmic environment will have within it the seed of deceleration, creating this feeling of constant slowing of time that immerses and invites contemplation.

The work was created for the "Arena delle balle di Paglia" festival and made with local materials and skills: in fact, the sound modules are made of terracotta, crafted by a local artisan.
